Well, as I suspected, I ran a little behind schedule this week due to my nieces flying into town. But honestly, if it's a choice between finishing another model, or seeing my nieces, I'd have to say that the girls would win out every time!
Regardless, I got the Stegadon built and had it mostly painted by the end of last week.
In profile. As you can see, there are still final details (rope, skulls, etc.) to be painted in.
The most difficult part of this model was trying to do the horns. The prospect of painting horns has intimidated me for some years. But I took it head-on with this model and now feel that the effort counted for something.
As you can see, I'm still working on the Howda (which I'm building as the war machine). Skinks are also mostly done at this point. I should be finished this model next weekend, and then it will be on to Salamanders, I believe.
Me, Lauren and Maddy at the Edmonton Folk Festival this past weekend... so... much... fun!
'Til next time.
Good work, I didn't paint a thing the last week or so.
ReplyDeleteI was checking your blog constantly but yep, good reason for slow progress :). Love the red skin on this guy, it looks great. I had the same issue with the horns on this model (and horns in general). Looking great!
ReplyDeleteExcellent work on the skin, it looks very good - aged, tough and scaly as it should. Besides, it's very good model. I was always tempted to paint lizardmen army but one thing put me off everytime - amount of models:) Really nice progression with this project.
ReplyDeleteYou've done a very good job on the horns Kevin. I also find them one of the hardest parts to get right. Actually, anything slightly off white that needs some shading or a wash is tricky for me.
ReplyDeleteThe Stegadon is a heck of a project to be honest. I haven't taken mine on yet and I have the old steg model !
Keep up the excellent blogging,

Guys, thanks for the comments. Sigmar, love your site. I particularly like the photo you have up on your gallery right now of Epic Thagrosh (Hordes). I have the model built, primed and inked and sitting on my table waiting for the right inspiration for a paint scheme...I think I've found it!
ReplyDeleteGreat painting!
