Stegadon Part II

Well, two weeks later...the Stegadon is now complete. I'm pretty happy with the way this model turned out, but it was more work than I thought it would be. There's just so much detail in these large models...I would think that I'd be done, and then I'd find another detail that hadn't been picked out. Bah!

Here's a close up of one of the skink crew members.

In profile. I used some of the etched brass from the Warhammer basing set to represent some fallen jungle foliage.

I took the skink priest from the Engine of the Gods portion of the kit, and based him on his own...instant skink wizard!

I play my first game of WFB on Tuesday...I now have 1250 points worth of troops painted up. I'll try to remember to take some pics. Next up on the painting table will be some Salamander units.

'Til next time.

  1. Yep, tons of work but so worth it - this looks fantastic and is a key centerpiece for the army. Awesome job!

I plan to steal your deep red skin tone for a Stegadon I'm converting into a Chaos Warshrine (already started the conversion). Just fyi ;)

I posted a couple of new models myself this evening over on my blog if you want to take a peek.

  3. Nice work as always. Good idea for a Chaos War Shrine I was thinking Skaven Screaming Bell kit the other day...

  4. Yep I actually bought the bell kit first for the war shrine, but then returned it...it just seemed odd to have nothing pushing or pulling it.

  5. Wow. What is the ass end of the giant lizard that we can see in the thord shot? Just a toy? Or some troops?

  6. Just found your blog and really like your stuff.

I have two steg's on the docket, one of which I intend to paint some shade of red. I like how yours turned out - any chance on sharing the recipe for his scales & skin?

  8. I love seeing the lizardmen. I've been playing them since they launched and I am a true fan. I have the old metal Stegadon and you've done a gorgeous job on this one. I would be honored to face it in battle!
