Starting a Video Blog

I've been wanting to add a video element to this blog for some time. I finally got around to buying a camcorder, along with the bells and whistles to make video reports.

My introductory video is here:

And the second episode, which focuses on Warmachine, Khador, Vlad2 and a battle report, is here:

Hope you like these. Please provide any feedback so that I can make future videos that are more in line with what you may be looking for.

'Til next time.

  1. Way cool, Kevin.

You can embed the video itself in your blog by going to the youtube video, click on share and then embed and then paste the html into your blog editor. You may need to adjust the width to 480 or so to make it fit.

    1. Bob,
Great. Thanks for the tip...I was wondering how to do that. Anyway, I still don't seem to have the width right. In the embed code, I set the new size for 480x270...but this seems to be too big. Any other ideas?

  2. They turned out well, very professional. I would do as Bob suggested and embed them in your blog.

  3. Hi Kevin, I've been following your blog for some time now but wanted to stop in and compliment you on your videos! I'm very light on my miniature wargaming -- I briefly looked at Warhammer Fantasy and 40k collections when I was younger, and have briefly forayed into Malifaux gaming lately -- but I've always enjoyed seeing your painting exploits! Further, as a fellow Edmontonian, it's cool to see this sort of content coming from the hometown!

The videos were really handy and easy to follow, even for someone who only has a passing knowledge of Warmachine. The more important thing about the videos is that you were very personable and nothing came across forced -- it was evident that both you and Elliot have a good relationship and you were both very natural when discussing things on camera.

One thing that might be nice next time would be to see a close-up of your Menoth models the same that you did for Elliot's Khador models. It was cool to see his models in formation on the table after his deployment -- why not do the same for yourself!

Again, good job on the videos, and thanks for all the painting tips on your blog! Keep up the good work!

  4. The sound level on episode 2 seems about right (#1 was a little too quiet for my normal setting). I like where you're going with these, keep up the good work!

  5. I've been following your blog for a while now and since I really like what you're showing here, I'd like to nominate your blog for the Liebster Award. I hope it will help bring new readers to your blog. You can find more details about the award here: http://www.independent-painters.com/2014/05/liebster-award.html
Going through all the steps is a tedious work so I'd totally understand if you chose to pass. Still, know that your work is appreciated and you get thumbs up from me!
